Greystones Harbour

20 to 30 minutes drive south of  Dublin, Greystones is a small, quaint town, which lies between Bray (a few miles to the north) and Kilcoole (just 3 miles south).  It is known for its beautiful harbour and scenic views.

I spent quite a lot of time there as a teen, since it was only 3 miles north of Kilcoole, and my Grandad Byrne's cottage, I often walked to Greystones with my friends especially when we went to a dance and missed the last bus to
Kilcoole.  Instead of walking next to the main Dublin road, we would sometimes walk along the beach, following the railway tracks, until we came to where the Sea Road met the shore, and then up the Sea Road to
Kilcoole.

This is a favorite hike for "young lovers" and can be quite romantic late at night, under a luminous full moon, with the waves of
the Irish Sea lapping gently upon the rocky shore.
