Ha'Penny
Bridge, River Liffey "Ha'penny" is short for "halfpenny" which is how much it used to cost to use this bridge crossing the River Liffey, the river which flows through the heart of Dublin City, capital of Republic of Ireland (or "Eire" as Republic Ireland is called in Gaelic). The Ha'Penny Bridge is a famous Dublin landmark used for foot traffic only but there is no fee for its use today. This photo was taken on the same Christmas trip as "Modern Street Bard" above (Xmas '90). |
